WHY IS DANCING OUR FAVOURITE HOBBY?
“Dance, when you're broken open. Dance, if you've torn the bandage off. Dance in the middle of the fighting. Dance in your blood. Dance when you're perfectly free.”
― Rumi To answer the main question there are the obvious answers. We dance for physical fitness but also for mental clarity. We dance for emotional stability and to express ourself in a free way. |
MAYBE DANCE IS SIMPLY A TRANSLATOR FOR THE HUMAN HEARTI understand dance as the medium through which we prove the world who we really are and also who we can be.
As humans we honestly believe that we are not ordinary and also that we are unique and different from others. We know ourselves to be wonderfully unique, with many layers of personality and talent woven in such a way that no one on earth could possibly have our same make-up. We know it. We just do not always know how to prove it. When dancing we can prove all of that things and show the world we are different. |
EARLY DANCING
According to a recent study the act to dance was a way for our prehistoric ancestors to bond and communicate, in particular during tough times.
As a result of this, scientists believe that early humans who were coordinated and rhythmic could have had an evolutionary advantage.

MIRROR NEURONS
If you’re in the audience of a dance performance and you feel that you have just danced there’s a scientific explanation behind this sensation.
A series of structures in your brain are working to elevate the feeling into something legitimate and real. These structures are, in actual fact, a series of neurons. To be more specific, they are called ‘mirror neurons’. These are situated in your brain and are activated not just when you perform an action, but also when you watch someone else perform said action. Try it and watch the following video. |
